رحاب الملائكي

We never cease to learn for as long as we exist in this life. These are my thoughts and contemplations in diaspora هذه بعض من خواطري في أرض المهجر, أُعبّر بها عن بعض ما نعيشه و نعانيه من بُعد و حنين و شوق للاوطان. خواطري أنا رحاب الملائكي

Can you help repay my debt, and fly with me on EasyJet?

I am sorry, but I can't... OR

I can't take it anymore... OR

This is not the life I was dreaming of, I am leaving!!!! OR

You've got to sort out your finances soon, or you better find someone else!!!!

These are the type of responses that most of us would give, consciously or otherwise, to the debating title question above...

It is only human nature...

Nowadays, relationships suffer enormous strains at times of financial difficulty... If a couple manage to get over such times of strain, then the chances of their relationship being demolished by any other type of difficulty are significantly lower...

In fact, people now split up over trivialities and move on, without spending too much thought on anything other than their own personal interests. Their children's future is often at the bottom of their list of priorities!!!

So common nowadays it has become part of the accepted norm is the emergence of complex family structures, in which both partners have children from previous relationships in addition to their joint new ones...

In the past, couples withstood much harder financial problems with negligible adverse effects if any on their relationships... They were much more content with what they had than we now are...

Moreover, they would happily sacrifice their own pleasure in exchange for that of their children's!!!

Perhaps in the past there was no major difference in lifestyle between the richest and the poorest people in society... They would broadly live similar lives regardless of their finances, so there was no pressing urge for them to needlessly seek to  accumulate more and more wealth!!!

On the contrary, nowadays there are vast differences in lifestyles between the various social classes, almost to an insulting degree!!!

People have become more self-centered and superficial than ever before... All they seem to want is to maximise their materialistic gains and no more!!!

AND

In so doing, they are NOT getting any happier as a result, and neither should they expect to...

You can't expect to be happy if you are an impatient, pessimistic, superficial and self-centered arrogant piece of work...

You need to change yourself to the better.

Change your attributes listed above to their opposites, and you will be surprised how happy you will then become...

Only then, you can stop worrying about money for a little, and enjoy a short cheap holiday trip on EasyJet, while helping your partner repay their debt...
